Green Mountain Revv and Revv Pulse Coming to CoffeeRocket.com!

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

So yesterday we announced the creation of Green Mountain’s new K-cup, Revv and Revv Pulse. Well, late-last night an email was sent to me with a bit more information, which you need to know about in order to get as hyped as we are about the arrival of these two new K-cups! Here is a quote from Lindsey Bolger, Director of Coffee Sourcing and Relationships at Green Mountain Coffee.

“Our goal was to create an intense and energizing coffee experience without delivering a shock to your system or taste buds. We’ve crafted revv to be every bit as flavorful and delicious as it is invigorating.”

While we can’t say for sure exactly what the new Green Mountain Revv K-cup and the new Green Mountain Revv K-cup Pulse taste  or feel like (energy-wise), we do know some descriptor details that are sure to make us rip open the packaging come March 18th when the new Green Mountain K-cups become available.

Both of the the Green Mountain K-cups, Revv and Revv Pulse are designed with more coffee in each K-cup than all other K-cups. These additional grinds crafted of a blend of 100% Arabica medium and dark roasted beans create a smooth smoky sweetness (try saying that 3 times fast!) that is sure not to overpower your tastebuds.

The new Green Mountain K-cup Revv only has that extra coffee in the K-cup, but the new Green Mountain Revv Pulse has Ginseng and Guarana (lead natural ingredients in popular energy drinks) to help you cultivate more focus and energy than just a plain ol’ cup of coffee.

We are sure that this new Green Mountain K-cup will take off as fast as Green Mountain is hoping for and we certainly cannot wait to review it! Check back for a full review after March 18! Until then, check out our extensive selection of other Green Mountain K-cups and other brands, such as Timothy’s K-cups, Coffee People K-cups, Gloria Jean K-cups and more at www.CoffeeRocket.com.

Green Mountain Revv: A New K-cup!

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Well, well, well. What do we have here, Green Mountain? A new K-cup?! Here is a K-cup that has everyone super excited! Actually, there are two new ones: Revv and Revv Pumped…

After attaining Timothy’s Coffee, Green Mountain showed an epic slowdown in new K-cup productions. Known for their variety and ever-growing selection of flavored K-cups, it is about time for Green Mountain to shock the market once more with something new.

We are all well aware of the energy drink craze happening right now. So, how has Green Mountain decided to play into this market? Green Mountain took nature’s oldest ‘energy drink’ and decided to REVV it up. They have added additional caffeine and more coffee into the same K-cups you already love. More details to come as we find out more information. We just found out ourselves and wanted to share the excitement of Green Mountain’s New Revv K-cup and Revv Pulse K-cup.

How exciting!

Keurig K-Cups: How Green is Green Mountain?

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

dsc_6909Recently, I read an article about the environmental impact of Keurig K-Cups. Keurig, which was bought out by Green Mountain in 2005, has taken over the single cup coffee market. They offer hundreds of options for coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and chai drinks, but at what cost? Although many of the coffees offered by Green Mountain are Fair Trade or organic, they are all still placed in non-recyclable K-cups. Though Green Mountain has been trying to develop a way to create a “greener” K-cup, so far they have only invented the My K-Cup Reusable Coffee Filter. This reusable coffee filter allows you to use any kind of coffee you want in your Keurig single cup coffee makers. The idea is clever, but doesn’t this seem to deter Keurig users from buying more K-cups and instead filling it with grocery store coffee brands?

Here’s an except from EarthPM.com about the amount of K-Cups that end up in landfills:

Last year alone, over 1.6 billion (yes, billion!) cups were used.  My calculations say that this is enough K-cups to circle the earth one and a quarter times. And they all go into landfills after their seconds of use and stay there for hundreds or thousands of years.  And that’s just Keurig.  There is also Tassimo, Senseo, and others.  Further, the forecast for K-cup sales are 3 billion in 2010 and 5 billion in 2011.  So now we are talking about a chain of K-cups from 2009, 2010 and 2011 made up of 9 or 10 billion units and circling the earth eight times!

How do you feel about this? What do you think they can do to improve the “green-ness” of K-Cups?

Keurig has really shown the single serve coffee market how to get people excited about their coffee. We’ve said it a hundred times, but for people out there who aren’t die hard loyal coffee fans (choosing one type and sticking with it) VARIETY has made Keurig K-Cups a market leader. In this YouTube video, Keurig has put together a terrific animation of what the inside of their Keurig K-cups look like and how the coffee is brewed through them. It’s pretty neat. Enjoy! Keurig K-Cup Vending

Monday, December 21st, 2009

K-cup vending machineWhile browsing through a Vending & OCS magazine I came across this interesting Keurig K-Cup vending machine. Thought it was worth a share. Those of us who do not have to pay for our single cup coffee whether it’s in the form of a K-Cup or a Flavia Coffee fresh pack, this machine is still a great way for companies to display the product they are providing their employees with at affordable prices. Hey, not everything in the office can be free! This Multi-Max unit holds 250 Keurig K-cups and 25 varieties of said K-cups. Though this vending machine is only available through www.Multi-Max.com, you know the best prices for K-cups can be found on www.CoffeeRocket.com!

Inside of a K-Cup

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Although it may seem self-explanatory, I still found it interesting to know what the inside of a K-cup looked like and exactly how it worked. That’s when I found this nifty little diagram and thought I would pass along the information. Now, while your futuristic, Keurig, personal coffee maker is brewing your favorite blend, you know what’s going on in there!

inside a k cup“First lets explain the actual make up of the K cup and what makes it unique. The K cup is a plastic container that is more complex than it actually looks at first glance. In side plastic cup is first placed an oxygen, light and humidity barrier that wraps the inner side-wall of the cup. This barrier plays an important role in maintaining the freshness of the coffee. Next a sophisticated coffee filter is placed inside of the barrier. This filter helps control the water pressure and ensures ideal extraction time. Now the premeasured freshly ground coffee is placed and packed tightly into the filter. The plastic cup is then sealed with an airtight foil lid that locks in the freshness and taste of the coffee. This patented technology can maintain the coffee freshness and ensure a quality cup for more than six months.”

After this knowledge and assuming the each single cup coffee beverage works in some sort of similar matter, why do you think K-cups are the most popular way to enjoy individual beverages over TDISCs, Flavia brew packs, and pods? I think it’s all those flashy foil lids with pretty pictures, but if you have a better idea- tell me!

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Hello! We decided it would be neat to do an occasional Top Ten List. So, Welcome to our first one featuring the top 10 selling K-Cups. Number one seemed somewhat obvious, but surprisingly there were a couple on the list that we truly did not expect to see.

Timothy’s Coffee Releases Kahlúa Original K-Cups

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

kahluaA liqueur that tastes like coffee…a coffee that tastes like a liqueur…Kahlúa’s driving people all sorts of loco with their new adventure into the coffee world. A little less than a month ago, Timothy’s World Coffee banned together with Kahlúa to produce the new Kahlúa Original K-Cup. Like any naturally curious person, surely you must be wondering if after consuming a couple cups of this new coffee whether or not you’ll be slurring your words and falling off your desk chair? If your hopes were high then I’m sorry to report: no, there is no alcohol in this beverage.

Boasting a heavy aroma and a taste full of notes such as rum, vanilla, and caramel, this coffee certainly set itself up for its consumers to have extremely high expectations. At a close nose-to-cup encounter it smells like butterscotch syrup and tastes pretty close to that same aroma. A full-bodied cup crafted only out of the finest Arabica beans leaves a pleasurable, sweet aftertaste. Actually, adding sugar to the cup didn’t do anything to enhance the flavor; it’s pretty tasty all on its own.

Overall, it’s not exactly what you’d imagine Kahlúa to taste like in coffee form, but as a new Timothy’s K-Cup it definitely hits the spot. A great new addition such as this one to the land of flavored coffees makes me wonder who will be the next single serve coffee packaging manufacturer to capitalize on this intelligent crossover between two heavenly/guilty pleasures. Try this as an iced coffee. Delish! Available now at extraordinary low prices on www.CoffeeRocket.com.
