Cafe La Semeuse: Your New Go-To Coffee

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

cafe la semeuseCafe La Semeuse. If you don’t know this name from the coffee industry, you need to know something. You are missing out! Yes, I hate to push yet another coffee brand in your vocabulary of already over-populated manufacturers, but this is one brand that needs to make its way to the  front of your frontal lobe. Cafe La Semeuse produces what they themselves call “a never bitter coffee.” How is that possible? The selectively chosen, delicate Arabica beans are roasted at higher altitudes, which in turn, allows the beans to be roasted at lower temperatures. Translation? No burt beans, no oily residue, no bitter flavor, and surprising (this is not advertised) minimal aftertaste/coffee breath. (This is huge for us who work closely with our co-workers!)

Look at that beautiful color Classique!

Look at the beautiful color of Classique!

After reading several articles about how Cafe La Semeuse is served in some of the finest returaunts and hotels in the country, I finally brewed a pot for the office. Without being prompted or told that this was a different coffee than they usually drink, everyone commented on the sweet, mild aroma. And after consumption? I got paged 4 times to be asked what I had just made. The answer? Cafe La Semeuse Classique. Looks like our office has a new go-to coffee. Isn’t time you ventured into the wonderful world of something new and delicious? We think so.

Get your Cafe La Semeuse Classique in whole bean or ground form at www.CoffeeRocket.com. You will not be disappointed. Sincerely enjoy!

Cafe La Semeuse Has Extremely Loyal Customers

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

A couple of weeks ago, the New York Times posted an article regarding the “hip-ness” of decaf coffee. While they admit to only “drinking their decaf in the shadows,” they were overall displeased with the experience they had with the decaf coffees they tried. One of New York Times’ loyal readers wrote a response to the article. She informed them that they had better try Cafe La Semeuse Decaf coffee (one which did not appear on their tasting table), which comes in both whole bean and ground form. Cafe La Semeuse, whose slogan is “the never bitter coffee” has a booming positive reputation with its drinkers. Cafe La Semeuse coffee drinkers are lifers. Though Cafe La Semeuse is not widely available, it is however offered on www.CoffeeRocket.com where we give you great coffee for a great price. Stop on by today and try some out. You won’t be disappointed! Enjoy.

cafe la semeuse decafHere’s what the Cafe La Semeuse Decaf coffee drinking fanatic, Maralyn Hirschenbaum, had to say:

To the Editor:

Of necessity, I am a lifelong decaffeinated coffee drinker. About 20 years ago — as a result of a New York Times article praising decaf coffees — I discovered decaffeinated Café La Semeuse.

Although absolutely delicious, it is not widely available. I used to get it at Bloomingdale’s (when they had a substantial gourmet/coffee department) and then at Balducci’s (until they closed). Fortunately for me, there must be others who love it because I now find it in several of the better shops in the city.

For 20 years, I have been serving it to (and surprising, delighting — and enlightening) dinner guests. Your article said that, over all, the tasters were disappointed with the coffees.

All I can say is, do yourselves a favor — come for dinner!

Chemex Coffee Makers: Brewing the Purist Coffee

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

chemexChemex Coffee Maker, created by chemist Peter Schlumbohm around 1939, still proves to brew the purest coffee around. It looks simple enough; it’s simply a funnel on top of a beaker with a wooden holder and a decorative leather tie. Though the design and shape of the Chemex Coffee Maker has landed it a permanent position in the New York Modern Museum of Art for the past 50 years, it is the filter that makes the difference. Using a 20-30% heavier filter than regular drip brew paper filters, every oil and impurity from the coffee is removed, leaving only the purest, cleanest, crispest cup of coffee. The Chemex Coffee maker is the choice used by coffee connoisseurs. You can grind up any bean of your choosing. Whether you choose the Lavazza Super Crema Whole Bean Espresso or an Illy Whole Bean Medium Roast Coffee, it will still taste better brewed through the Chemex than brewed anywhere else. Give it a shot and post your comments in the forum. I dare you not to love the final result. Get all the coffee you need at www.CoffeeRocket.com. You know we have the lowest prices around and a fantastic selection.

Melitta Introduces New Cafe Collection Product Line

Friday, October 30th, 2009

MELITTA BANNER

Though there are more than plenty of choices out there when it comes to ground coffee, Melitta recently introduced its Melitta Cafe Collection—their first new product line in several years. The Cafe Collection aims at bringing authentic European coffee flavor into American homes. And as one of the most trusted “European” brands, Melitta has no fear in introducing yet another gourmet coffee to the market. The product will only be sold in ground form and is barely available except to a few Philadelphia retailers at the moment. CoffeeRocket.com also has the pleasure of being one of the first e-commerce sites selling Melitta’s wonderful new European-inspired line besides the creators, www.Melitta.com. Hello, exclusivity! The six new roasts are available in: 2 medium roasts, Classique Supreme and Blanc et Noir; a dark roast, Vienna Roast; a decaf, Riviera Sunset; and 2 flavored coffees, Hazelnut Crème Brulee and Parisian Vanilla. The Cafe Collection is definitely a new product worth trying. You may even think you deserve a new stamp on your passport after indulging in this international delight!

What single cup coffee maker should you buy your college student?

Monday, October 12th, 2009

As college students leave the “comfort” of their dorm room to make the seasonal pilgrimage back to their respective hometowns for Thanksgiving/Winter break, parents eagerly await their return. Though the stress of finding the perfect gift for the holiday season can become overwhelming, there is something that parents can buy for their college student that is useful, convenient, and fun. A single cup coffee maker, of course.

Not only does a personal brew machine save them enormous amounts of time and money (see article on how much money you can save by making coffee at home), but it is also the gift that will make you a hero. All those late night study sessions followed by early morning classes are much easier to face and get through with a jolt of java close by. No longer will they have to wait in lengthy lines and stress about being late to class. And let’s face it, taking as much stress off a college student as possible is always helpful and appreciated.

So, which single cup coffee maker should you buy? Well, here are a few of the top choices.  (Keeping in mind specific dorm room restrictions, which vary from school to school.)

flavia fusion drink stationFlavia Fusion Drink Station: This single cup coffee maker is an entire drink station. Within minutes you can create cappuccions, chococcinos, hot chocolate, a bevy of teas…etc. The maker is only compatible with fresh packs, which contain single servings of each beverage. It’s extremely quiet, efficient, and narrow in design. Although this is the most expensive option on the list, (around $125) it’s for a reason. Even after school is over, your student will enjoy waking up every day to make a fresh, quick, personalized cup of coffee for years to come.

keurig-b30-and-keurig-b70Keurig Mini Personal Brewer: A compact single serve coffee cup maker that comes in 3 colors. The great thing about a machine like this is that it is so clean and convenient, no need to deal with messy filters or measuring out ground coffee. Although the maker is only compatible with K-Cups, there are over 200 varieties/flavors offered and the selection is always growing.  It makes a cup of coffee in under 3 minutes.

Thinking more long-term though, it may be better to purchase the slightly bigger brewer, the B40. It’s only slightly more expensive, but with a 48 oz water reservoir, it doesn’t have to be refilled for every cup–a very adult machine that will last long after college. B30 is about $90 while the B40 is only around $100.

black n decker brew n goBlack & Decker Brew ‘n Go Personal Coffeemaker: After filling the mug with water and pouring it into the water tank, it only takes a filter, ground coffee, and about 3 minutes before a fresh cup of coffee is brewed, drip-style, into it’s accompanying travel mug. The prices runs around $20 and comes with a nifty stainless mug.

french pressFrench Press: If coffee makers are strictly prohibited, perhaps a more kettle-like maker would be able to pass for approval. This easy-to-use method is preferred by coffee experts as the best way to prepare a cup of coffee. It’s simple enough to use and can be found very cheap—around $25. It takes ground coffee, so your student could fill it with whatever ground coffee they find at the local market.

melitta ready set joe to goMelitta Ready, Set, Joe Travel Mug: This old school single cup maker literally is just a funnel on top of a cup. It’s as basic as you can get for making a cup of coffee. Inside the funnel goes your filter and ground coffee. After pouring hot water over the grounds, you have a fresh brewed cup of coffee. This maker is about $7, but you’d still need to find a way to heat the water.
