World’s Biggest Cup of Coffee

Monday, November 30th, 2009

In the United States, where bigger is better when it comes to portion sizes, it’s a wonder we have not yet embarked on a journey to beat this record. In 2007, Mauricio Cadavid brewed the largest cup of coffee containing 1,095 gallons, which is 17,520 8 oz. cups  of coffee in Medellin, Colombia on October 11, 2007.

Earlier that same year on April 8th, the record was set in Ha Noi, Vietnam by Vinacafe Bien Hoa, the biggest coffee producer of that area. The cup they unveiled contained 952 gallons, which equaled 15,232 8 oz cups. But, it was made with instant coffee, so it doesn’t seem as impressive as the actual Arabica beans ground down for the cup made in Colombia.

Although the record from Panama in April of 2007 only totaled 750 gallons of fresh brewed coffee, they provide a video. Fun!
